Search Genesee County Court Docket

Flint's downtown court campus anchors Genesee County record searches. The 7th Circuit Court and the county clerk keep felony, divorce, and major civil files there, while the 67th District Court spreads across several division locations for tickets, misdemeanors, evictions, and small claims. Probate sits nearby with estates and guardianships. Knowing the division matters. Search the statewide case system by case number or party name, then read the court and location on the result before going anywhere. A Genesee County court docket copy request, an older file, or a hearing check belongs with the clerk of that specific court.

Genesee County MiCOURT Search Fields

MiCOURT keeps two search modes separate. The name panel asks for a last name or business name, and you can add a first name, middle name, or birth year. The case-number panel wants year, number, and type instead. Those built-in limits make a Genesee County docket search far more repeatable than a loose name sweep. Court selection plus Show and Clear controls round out the public screen, while official developer materials mention extra filters for categories and sorting.

A blank screen is not proof of nothing. A Genesee County result can go missing for several reasons: the wrong court selected, a name spelled differently, a restricted category, a sealed or set-aside matter, or the criminal-sentence display filter inside MiCOURT. Bulk downloading and scraping are barred as well.

Note: Before asking a clerk to pull a court record, write down the court, the search date, and the case number.

Inside a Genesee County Court Docket

Michigan courts often use the phrase register of actions, or ROA. That is what most people call the docket. Think of it as a timeline, not the whole file. A Genesee County ROA can list the filing date, the court and judge, party roles, charges or claims, scheduled hearings, motions, orders, a disposition label, and sometimes a balance indicator. Exactly what shows varies by court and case type. One caution: a calendar entry is only a snapshot. A "closed" status alone tells you nothing about how the case actually ended.

Case numberThe court-assigned identifier searched through year, number, and type fields.
PartiesRoles such as plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, or interested person.
ROA entriesFiled events, orders, notices, hearing activity, and dated case-history entries.
SettingA scheduled date, time, room, hearing type, and sometimes a judge or officer.
DispositionThe record's labeled resolution. Read the exact entry and date before drawing conclusions.
DocumentsA public-link indicator when available. A missing link does not mean the clerk has no document.

A charge, complaint, petition, or hearing date is a step, not a result. Genesee County public records also shield personal identifiers. Seeing something in a public index does not authorize copying birth dates, license numbers, financial details, or restricted material from court records.

Genesee County ROA and Copies

Four different things get confused here. A Genesee County online ROA, an inspected court file, an ordinary copy, and a certified copy are distinct products. MiCOURT supplies the index and case history. The clerk handles the rest: whether a public paper or electronic document is open to you, whether an older file sits off-site, and whether certification is possible. On its form, the 67th District Court offers a review option. A complete-file option is subject to nonpublic exclusions, and a specific-record option covers a named order, recording, or document.

On that district form, copies run $1 per page and a certified copy is $11. Those are request charges only, not a case balance and not a statewide fee schedule. The form also warns that records left unclaimed for 30 days may be disposed of. For circuit fees, contact the Legal Records Division. It can confirm the current charge and copy method.

Courts That Keep Dockets in Genesee County

No single county docket office holds everything in Genesee County. The 7th Judicial Circuit Court serves as the general-jurisdiction trial court. The 67th District Court takes limited-jurisdiction work. That includes traffic and civil infractions, misdemeanors, small claims, limited civil matters, and felony preliminary stages. Estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and probate or mental-health records live with Genesee County Probate Court. The Flint Administrative Hearings Bureau, meanwhile, is not a state trial court. It is a city administrative forum.

The 67th District Court's official site still works well as a Genesee County court reference. Just watch the older division pages. Consolidation moved some locations they still describe.

The district court covers all of Genesee County, though its geographic divisions still help you spot venue and case assignment.

Genesee County Court Assignment Map

The 67th District Court assignment order keeps geographic divisions alongside a Central Division. Flint sits in Division 5. Burton is in Division 2B. Fenton-area communities fall in Division 4A, Flushing-area communities in Division 1, and Grand Blanc, Grand Blanc Township, and Mundy Township in Division 4B. A traffic or limited-civil case stays with the issuing district location no matter where in Genesee County the person lives.

Felony cases work differently. They are filed centrally, then assigned by blind draw under the order. Later circuit proceedings can spawn a related 7th Judicial Circuit Court record. Keep the court name and case number with any notes. That way a district preliminary file is never mistaken for a circuit trial file. Probate matters follow their own court, and federal cases run through PACER rather than MiCOURT.

Note: A city name helps with venue. But the court label decides which Genesee County record office can actually locate the file.

How to Find Court Dates and Settings

Start with the 7th Circuit court schedule. It points you to MiCOURT Court Display and the judge schedule views. Court Display works by date. It can show a party name and the time and room. It may also list the case number, hearing details, and sometimes a CTN. The smarter route is to look up the case first. Then match the setting against the right court and the right date. Treat any Genesee County calendar entry as a locator only. It does not prove a hearing happened, and a later order may have changed it.

District and traffic settings show up through the court record or a related ePAY route. For same-day confirmation, call the court that holds the file. That matters most when a hearing is remote. It also matters if a record is restricted or a local closure could interrupt service. The separate Genesee County court dates page walks through the calendar fields and confirmation steps. See it for more detail.

Genesee County Calendar Snapshots

A setting is a planned event, nothing more. Genesee County Court Display may list the date, time, room, case number, party name, and hearing information. Yet any of that can shift through a continuance, a reset, removal from the calendar, a closure, or a judicial coverage order. Write down when you checked the docket. If a deadline or travel plans hang on the answer, call the court of record. And a remote-hearing link is not an open invitation to watch every proceeding.

Local administrative orders explain access changes you might otherwise find puzzling. They cover court hours, closures, disability accommodations, and judicial coverage. The official local administrative orders index shows why a Genesee County counter or schedule may no longer follow an old routine. Check it before you assume anything.

Public Access to Court Dockets

Court rules, not FOIA, control public access to a Genesee County court record. Michigan Court Rule 8.119 governs court records, public registers, inspection, reproduction, and the clerk's duties. Under that rule, public case records stay open within limits set by statute, court order, rule, and privacy protections. FOIA plays a different role. It fits county administrative records such as budgets, resolutions, and facility plans. Those suit it better than a judicial case file.

Key access rules:

MCR 8.119 sets the court-record and public-register framework.

MCR 1.109(F) protects personal identifiers in court filings.

MCR 3.925 limits access to juvenile files and related information.

Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq. covers qualifying public-body records, with judicial-record limits.

Some case types are closed to public view by category. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, PPO, and other protected matters fall in that group. So a blank result in a Genesee County portal search can mean an access limit, not that no case exists.

Genesee County Access Limits

MiCOURT spells out which categories are blocked or limited in public displays: adoption, juvenile and child-protective matters, juvenile guardianships, mental-illness matters, name changes, personal protection orders, wills, and other sensitive case types. Michigan rules also shield birth dates, Social Security and national-identification numbers, driver-license and state-ID numbers, passport details, and financial-account data. Note the access rule that applies. Never copy an identifier into your notes.

A public register of actions does not promise full document images. Ask the Genesee County court directly whether the record is public, whether you can inspect it, and whether a copy or certification is available. A set-aside conviction may be redacted or closed to the public. A missing record, an old search result, or an incomplete portal display tells you nothing about a person's history.

Docket Records at the Clerk's Office

The 7th Circuit Legal Records Division is the public counter for circuit civil, criminal, and domestic filings. In Genesee County, its staff handles information, referral, record access, and the filing-related records work. Bring the case number, the document you want, and a date range. Also say whether you need inspection, a copy, or certification. District requests go elsewhere. The 67th District Court uses its own records form. It takes requests by mail, email, or fax. Probate files sit with the separate Probate Court records office.

Genesee County Location Changes

Genesee County redrew its district-court access map in 2025. Under an approved consolidation plan, the Flushing and Mt. Morris satellite courts closed by August 5, 2025. A magistrate hearing room opened at McCree, and technology upgrades followed. A 2026 county action on the former buildings confirms both sites had been vacated. Even so, geographic division assignment can still matter after a counter or service location moves.

Rely on the official 2025 consolidation resolution rather than a stale local listing. Before you visit, call the division or central district office. Ask whether the file is on-site and confirm current public hours. That step is worth taking for any older Genesee County matter.

Genesee County Filing Volume

The SCAO 2025 Judicial Resources Recommendations counted 13,375 Genesee County filings in 2024 across the listed circuit, family, and probate categories. The table breaks down as 1,947 criminal filings, 1,289 civil filings, 6,593 family filings, 3,471 probate filings, and 75 appeals. Those are filing counts, nothing else. They do not measure people, outcomes, or how many cases remain open today.

Volume this high rewards preparation. Have a precise case number ready, and check the current calendar. The totals say nothing about why any single Genesee County matter was set, delayed, or resolved.

Genesee County Court Dockets by City

The five city profiles here draw on 2020 Census figures: Flint, Burton, Fenton, Flushing, and Grand Blanc. A city name alone doesn't mean that city runs its own trial court. In practice, most Genesee County traffic matters, civil infractions, misdemeanors, small claims, and limited-civil cases land in 67th District Court records. Circuit and probate dockets run through their own courts instead. Flint's Administrative Hearings Bureau sits apart from all of that. It's an administrative city forum. It's not part of the state trial-court docket system.
